Default Black Dye Pricing History

Has Black dye, in the history of Guild Wars, ever been lower in price than any other dye? Ever...? Did any other dye beat Black in pricing? The reason I ask is because my friend said he once saw a silver dye go for more than a black dye, and I told him I've never seen this occur, ever. Please give a concise 'yes' or 'no'.

I've never seen it happen. It may have occured in the first month or two of the game when I didn't have GW yet, which is possible, but I doubt it.

Also, was this trader values or two people trading? The latter doesn't particularly mean much. There are always stupid people who will buy/sell for too much.

The only time I think this may have been possible is when Silver was first introduced. If I remember correctly Silver and White weren't in the game until well after release. Perhaps the 'new item' hype in the first few days after they were both added inflated the price above Black for a very short while.

Actually, it was white and brown dyes that were introduced later when they re-did the dye system. And for a few weeks, both those colors were going for a ton more than black. If I remember right, Silver dye was once about 1/2 - 2/3 the price of black, even at the beginning.

Silver was never worth as much as Black, but before the dye changes, it was worth much more than it is now. Under the old dye system, Silver was much more useful and popular than it is now, and the pricing reflected that.

Brown and White were introduced after the game's release. Silver existed from the beginning.

When I started playing, Silver was about 5k and Black was about 16k. It's not 1/2 to 2/3, but it's still significantly higher than what it is today.

I had a friend who played a little over 4 years now (he quit by the way) who said Black Dye use to be around 40k or more back in the past and if you had an ecto drop good lord you where rich. Also take in mind certain items where worth a lot more back then.

Many players I talked to and my friend said it was all the double dye drop week ends they us to have was one of the reasons the in-game economy sucks today and nothing is really worth anything anymore.

I had a friend who played the game right around when it started and said (with other players also saying it) Black Dye us to be worth 40k or more and if you had an ecto drop then dear lord you where rich. They also said one of the reason the in-game economy sucks today is do to all the double dye drop weekends they use to have, resulting in many players getting a crap load of black dyes to drop while farming.

Your friend sounds very learned.

Back in my day, you could go to kamadan with a nickle, see a movie show with popcorn and bring home change!

Just like in Eurotrip, when they go to "Nowhere near Berlin" and spend like 15cents on a top class hotel and a club

Semi-on-topic: Would anyone have any clue as to a complete history of the price of black dye from release to today? Just to see inflation? I was kind of hoping that's what this was about .

Brown started out at like 15k for all of 30 minutes before people figured out how common it was and the price plummeted to around 200g.
